You Just Never Know

A couple of years ago, I attended a cookout at the home of a co-worker. Another guest at the cookout was a woman named Beth, whom I used to have a crush on when we were teenagers.

Beth and I reminisced throughout the evening and we seemed to get along quite well. When it was time to go home, I decided to boldly ask Beth if she would like to go out to dinner sometime. When she said that she would like to, I was thrilled.

We not only went out to dinner, but we also went out on several dates. There was an apparent attraction between the two of us, and before long, we became physically intimate.

The Fourth of July holiday was approaching and Beth and I were planning to go on a two-day trip to a beach resort area located in a neighboring state.

One night, when we were riding in my truck, Beth and I were discussing our upcoming trip to the vacation resort. After I expressed that I was looking forward to the trip, Beth suddenly said "You know, one of these days, I'm just going to hurt you." When I asked what she meant, Beth said "Never mind, I'm just being a jerk."

We did go to the resort for a two-day mini-vacation. As a matter of fact, on our first night there, I had the best date night of my entire life. We enjoyed a delicious dinner, and spent the evening dancing before going back to the hotel for some quality time together.

The next day, we drove back to my house, where she had parked her car. As she was about to drive away, Beth suddenly informed me that she was breaking off our relationship.

Well, at least we enjoyed our vacation.
